Fri 13th Feb Week 22 Report

Leicester T&SC opened the week with a tough task at home to league leaders KP XVI. As with most teams, this proved beyond them, going down 10-0. Dominant performances from all the away side, and yet another PoM award for Ethan Hu, who is surely the best player in the Division. It will be interesting to see in which division these improving young players are playing next season.

 

Tuesday featured the Winstanley derby where WW VI sprung a surprise. beating in form WW V 7-3. Elijah Weedall was the standout performer with a fine maximum, well supported by doubles from his two teammates. 

 

On Wednesday,  Syston V, trying in vain to stay with KP XIV. also won 10-0, beating Nomads II at home. The away side won a set in 6 of the games to keep the match competitive with PoM Toren Storer the best performer for Syston. On the same night,  Fleckney IV went down 7-3 at home to Desford, in a competitive match featuring a maximum and PoM performance from George Thompson and a very narrow doubles win in 5.

 

In Thursdays final matches, Regents Sports II beat Fleckney III, 7-3. Dave Rana and PoM Will Clark did the damage both with maximums and a win in the doubles, the result leaving Regents in third place in the table. In the other match KP XV and KP XIV drew 5-5. A close game with doubles for Abraham Lam and Phil Chapman countered by a maximum from PoM Simon Aldis.  A doubles win in 4 from KP XIV securing the draw.

Sat 7th Feb Week 21 Report

Two matches at Winstanley School began the week on Tuesday. WW V beat Leicester T&SC 10-0, with excellent performances all round: a PoM performance from new recruit Alex Kirliov, another maximum from rapidly improving Aiden Oram and a steady effort by John Hurst. Meanwhile, WW VI narrowly beat Fleckney IV, the latter just failing to break their run of losses for the 2nd week running. The home sides juniors did the damage with Aaryan Naker's maximum securing PoM honours.

 

Wednesdays only match was at Kibworth Mead Academy, where home side Fleckney III narrowly lost 6-4 to Syston V in a game decided by a 4 set doubles match. Wes Gauld's maximum and PoM performance was the deciding factor, well supported by Toren Storer. This result consolidates Syston's  2nd place in the division.

 

On Thursday, league leaders KP XVI continued their dominant form, whitewashing KP XV. Outstanding performances from everyone with unbeaten Ethan Hu again stealing the show with the PoM award. Regents Sports II beat KP XIV 6-4 away with another PoM performance from Will Clark who seems to be heading towards the divisional averages prize. However, the most notable story in this match,  was that 86 year old Rod Pickering beat 85 year old Roger Newby in a closely fought match. Their combined ages of 171 are an inspiration to everyone. In the final match this week, Nomads were beaten 9-1 at home by Desford IV with Joe Davis PoM and Dave Weston getting a consolation win for the home team. 

Fri 30th Jan Week 20 Report

Two matches on Monday: Leicester T&SC were beaten, 7-3, at home by  WW VI, with Olly Moores maximum leading the way as PoM. WW close the gap on their opponents moving within 3 points in the table. Meanwhile Desford IV had a comfortable 9-1 win over Fleckney III to leapfrog them in the table.  An excellent maximum for Rien Khafau, who had previously only won 2 of 11 and PoM, Tejas Khafau (retaining a 100% record) led the way for the home side, Jan Green getting the lone consolation for Fleckney.

In Tuesday’s only match Syston 5 beat KP XIV, 7-3 despite another  PoM performance from Simon Aldis. Two wins each from all the home players plus a tight win in the doubles saw them home. The win moved Syston up 3rd, level in points with KP XIV but with two games in hand. 

On Wednesday bottom team Fleckney IV narrowly failed to break their sequence of losses going down 6-4 at home to Nomads in a match, that could’ve gone either way. Dave Weston’s PoM performance and maximum being just enough to make the difference.

The first of Thursday’s two matches saw KP XV whitewashed by WW V, 10-0. PoM John Hurst was the standout performer in an excellent performance from the away team. Finally, runaway league leaders KP XVI beat Regents Sports II, 7-3 with another PoM performance from 100% Ethan Hu. Unfortunately the match was marred by KP’s Rufus Maton having to concede his final game due to illness.

Sat 24th Jan Week 19 Report

Mondays first match of the week was at Leicester Tennis & Squash Club where the home side comfortably beat Fleckney IV, 9-1. Alf McFarland emerged as PoM with Mike miles getting the lone consolation for the visitors.

 

On Tuesday, there were two matches at Winstanley School. WW V fought out a draw with Regents Sports II. The match was notable for Will Clark's, 2nd only defeat of the season to Alex Kirilov (recently recruited from KP) and a second consecutive PoM performance form improving Aiden Oram. Meanwhile WW VI had a resounding 9-1 win over KP XV with strong performances all round including a PoM showing from Oliver Moores.

 

Wednesdays only match saw a strong Fleckney III side beat Nomads II, 9-1. Nathan Ogdon (091%) was PoM in a rare appearance supported by a maximum from Russell Ferguson. With the league leaders (KP XVI) having their match v Syston V postponed, that left just one match to complete the week on Thursday.  In this, KP XIV went 2nd in the league with as they easily beat Desford IV, 8-2 with Simon Aldis picking up another PoM award.

Fri 16th Jan Week 18 Report

The unbeaten league leaders KP XVI, opened the week and were pushed harder than usual winning 7-3 away at Desford. There were a number of close games, in a competitive match with Qilin Hu’s maximum for PoM being deciding factor in the end. 

 

On Tuesday, home side, Syston V came from 4-2 down (and moved up to 2nd in the league) to beat WW V 6-4. Everyone contributed, but it was the away sides Aiden Oram who stood out in securing an excellent, first, PoM award.

 

Next match up, was Wednesday's derby at Kibworth Mead, where Fleckney III, narrowly beat Fleckney IV, 6-4. Two valiant wins each for Lennon Devlin and Matt Tattersall couldn't quite secure a first draw for Fleckney IV, with Nathan Ogden's maximum and PoM performance making the difference. 

 

The final three matches this week were on Thursday. KP XV drew 5-5 with Leicester Electric, perhaps not surprising as they were level on points going into the match. This turned out to be a really tight match with the away side earning the draw by coming form 2 down to win the doubles. Dave Dewsbury, who is in good form at present scored a fine maximum for PoM. 

 

Regents Sports II had an easier game, beating WW VI 9-1. Will Clark with his 11th,  PoM award, reinforcing his high placing in the divisional averages. The final match of the week at Nomads where the home team lost 9-1 to KP XIV, Simon Aldis, PoM in what was an all-round strong performance from the visitors who remain 3rd in the division.

Sat 10th Jan 2026 Week 17 Report

The first game of 2026 took place at Leicester T&SC with the home side going down narrowly to Regents Sports II. Will Clark (who leads the averages for those with sufficient qualifiers), PoM with another fine maximum. 

 

With Tuesdays match between WW VI and Syston V postponed that left Desford to get a fine win away at WW V,  in a tight 4-6 encounter.  PoM,  Tejas Khatau's maximum and win in the doubles with Joe Herbert was key in getting the away team over the line.

 

KP XV started the 2nd half with a comfortable 9-1 win away at bottom team Fleckney IV, with Dave Dewsbury emerging as PoM and Omar Morsy securing the home sides consellation game.

 

Finally, on Thursday, the unbeaten League leaders, KP XVI maintained their momentum with a 10-0 win over Nomads II with yet another PoM performance from 100% Ethan Hu. The KP youngsters look unstoppable, going 9 points clear. A much closer game saw Simon Aldis making his debut for KP XIV win all his games and the crucial doubles in a 6-4 win over Fleckney III. 

Sun 7th Dec Week 12 Report

The  final week  of scheduled matches before Christmas (there are a few rescheduled matches to fit in) , started with a comprehensive 9-1 win for Syston V away at Leicester T&SC which moved them temporarily up to 2nd place in the division. Good performances all round with Toren Storer taking POTM honours. 

 

Tuesdays two matches were both at Winstanley School. WW VI narrowly lost to Desford IV 6-4 with the match being decided in a 4 sets doubles game. Tejas Khatau was again POTM playing only  his 3rd match and maintaining his 100% record. Meanwhile WW V, leapfrogged Sytson to go second with a much more straightforward evening beating Nomads II, 9-1, with John Hurst producing  another POTM performance.

 

Wednesdays match at Kibworth Mead saw a third team this week claim 2nd place in the division as KP XIV beat Fleckney IV, 9-1. I a match closer than the score suggests (the away team won all four 5 set matches), Prabb Jaggi was POTM.

 

In the final  two matches, Regents II beat KP XV 7-3 at Knighton Park with another POTM from Will Clark who tops the averages for those that have played 2/3 of the matches. At the same time and venue. leaders KP XVI completed an unbeaten 1st half, beating Fleckney III, 9-1 with Ethan Hu maintaining his 100% record as POTM

Fri 28th Nov Week 11 Report

Tuesday’s opening match featured a draw between mid table and evenly matched, Desford IV and Leicester T&SC II. Gillian Wisdish contributing a fine maximum and a win in the doubles.

Wednesday’s game took place at Fleckney Sports Hall (Kibworth Mead was unavailable) and saw the home team, Fleckney 3 have a fine 8-2 win over WW V to leapfrog them in the table. Nathan Ogden POTM with a comfortable maximum. 

Three matches on Thursday, to complete the week: Regents Sports II inflicted a further defeat on bottom side Fleckney IV with a 7-3 win, Will Clark with another POTM performance and Matt Tattershall picking up a double to secure a valuable point for the away side. 

Nomads II and WW VI had an extremely close match with a 6-4 win for WInstanley only being secured with a 14-12 win in the 5th game of the doubles. Olly Moore’s maximum also earned him POTM honours. 

Finally leaders KP XVI highlighted their dominance of the Division beating second placed KP XIV 10-0. This time Qilin Hu was POTM as Bill Walmsley took two games off, high flying,  100%,  Ethan Hu.

Fri 21st Nov Week 10 Report

Mondays opening match saw Leicester T&SC comfortably beat Nomads II, 8-2, to leapfrog them in the table. Chris Barkers maximum securing the POTM award

 

Tuesdays matches were both at Winstanley School. The first featured a close fought 6-4 win for 4th placed WW V over 2nd placed KP XIV. Contributions from everyone, but it was Mike Smiths double for the away side that earned POTM honours. At the same time WW VI completed a home double, beating  mid table Fleckney III 7-3. Oliver Moores was  the standout player for Winstanley and a good double from Jan Green securing a point for the away side.

 

On Wednesday League leaders KP XVI played bottom team Fleckney IV at Kibworth Academy with the expected result, an 8-2 win for the away side. Cayden Cheung's maximum was the highlight of the evening with Omar Morsy getting a consolation double for Fleckney. KP XIV remain unbeaten and, now, 8 points clear at the top of the division.

 

In the final two matches, played on Thursday, Desford IV had a great 9-1 win away at KP XV, who were ahead of them in the table going into this match.  Joe Davies their best player and POTM, Sas all three from Desford scored maximums, the home side winning the doubles in 5 as a consolation. Finally Regents Sports II, narrow 6-4 win over Syston V with Will Clark again the difference, winning all 3 for POTM including 11-9 in the 5th against, the equally consistent, Toren Storer.

Sat 15th Nov Week 9 Report

Week 9’s opening match was a closely fought draw between Desford IV and Regents II. Tejas Khatau starred for the home side, his maximum not only securing POTM honours but also ending Will Clarke’s 100% record.

 

On Tuesday a strong Syston team beat bottom club Fleckney IV, 10-0 and in doing so, moved up to 3rd in the league. Wes Glauds, POTM, the best of 3 excellent performances. On Wednesday Fleckney III beat LT&SC 6-4 with another maximum and strong performance from league newcomer Russell Ferguson. 

 

The final three games featured another win for league leaders KP XVI, 7-3 at home to WW V. Maximums from Qulin Hu and POTM Ethan Hu, secured the win with the latter retaining his 100% record to top the averages. In a close mid table clash, Nomads II had a good 6-4 win over KP XV with Dave Weston's maximum and POTM performance securing maximum points. Finally, the KP XIV veterans moved up to 2nd in the table with another closely fought win over WW VI, with doubles from each of their players securing the result and a maximum from Olly Moores securing a point for the away side.

Fri 7th Nov Week 8 Report

The first match this week featured another success for the veterans of KPXIV, comfortably winning 8-2 at Leicester T&SC. However, the match was closer than the score suggests, with the home team losing four games in the fifth set. Denis O’Riordan emerging as POTM. 

 

Tuesdays only match saw Syston V beat Desford V, 10-0. Whilst two of the games went to 5 sets,  it turned out to be a comfortable night for the home side with Ajay Lad securing a maximum and a 2nd POTM award. 

 

On Wednesday, WW V picked up a comfortable 7-3 win at Kibworth Mead academy beating bottom team Fleckney IV 7-3. Everyone contributed for the away side with John Hurst securing a maximum as POTM and Omar Morsy winning 2 to gain a point for the home team. Meanwhile league leaders KP XV,I enjoyed another convincing win, beating WW XI 10-0 and only dropping 1 set. Kate Cheung as POTM, marginally the best of the excellent away side.

 

In the first of Thursdays final two matches,  Regents Sports II beat Nomads II, 7-3 with POTM Will Clark maintaining his 100% record at the top of the averages, Finally KP XV beat Fleckney III, 7-3 with a maximum from Abe Lam securing POTM honours.

1st Nov Week 7 Report

After a week’s break for Half Term, Desford IV opened the week strongly,  beating bottom club, Fleckney IV 10-0. Good Performance’s  all round from the home team with  Gillian Wisdish stealing  the show for POTM honours.

 

Tuesday night, saw the derby at Winstanley School with WW V coming out on top 9-1, maintaining their strong start to the season, John Hurst securing another maximum for another POTM award. On Wednesday Fleckney III beat Regents Sports II 7-3 at home with 2 win contributions form everyone and a maximum from Will Clarke securing a point for the visitors.

 

The last set of games on Thursday featured league leaders KP XI, who maintained their unbeaten record, beating Leicester T&SC 7-3 at home. Ethan Hu, again POTM retained his 100% record. Meanwhile, also at Knighton Park, the respective veterans of KP XIV and XV, played out an entertaining 5-5 draw, with 7 of the 10 matches going to at least 4 sets. Abe Lam with a fine maximum secured POTM honours. Finally, Syston V had a convincing 8-2 win at Nomads, Wes Glauds picking up a maximum

17th Oct Week 5 Report
 

Nomads continued their improved form with a narrow 6-4 win at Desford IV on Monday night. This match was only decided in the 5th set of the doubles despite a fine maximum and POTM from Gillian Wisdish. Meanwhile yet another close match at Leicester T&SC where their 2nd team and WW V played out a draw. John Walworth delivered a maximum for POTM honours.

 

On Tuesday Syston V had a comfortable 9-1 win over Fleckney III. Toren Storer securing the POTM award and Narendra Shah's point avoiding a whitewash for the away team. Wednesday saw WW VI move off the bottom of the table with a 7-3 win away at Fleckney IV. Olly Moores maximum secured POTM for the away side whilst Omar Morsy picked up another double for Fleckney.

 

The final two matches of the week saw league leaders KP XVI comfortably beat KP XV with Kate Cheung POTM. KP XIV beat Regents Sports II, 7-3 away, everyone contributing amd a POTM maximum from Regents Will Clark securing a point for the home team. KP XIV move into second place in the table following that win.

11th Oct

This weeks set of games was very unusual, in that four of the six were draws and a fifth only decided as 6-4 with a 5th game win in the doubles. Points to a competitive season.



The first game of the  week was a rearranged fixture with WW V and Syston V drawing 5-5 John Hurst emerging as POTM and 15 year old Lewis Woodfield making his debut for the away side. Also on Tuesday at Winstanley School, another draw, this time between WW VI and Leicester T&SC, lifting the home side temporarily off the bottom of the table. Aryan Naker, POTM in a match where everyone contributed. 

 

Wednesdays only match was at Kibworth Mead Academy, where home side Fleckney III played out an extremely close draw with Desford IV, the away side securing a point with an 11-9 win in the 5th game of the doubles. Joe Davies maximum earned him POTM honours. 

 

On Thursday,  Nomads II just prevailed at home over Fleckney IV with Dave Sanders maximum seeing the home team through and a notable double for Matt Tattershall making his league debut for the away side. This match also featured a 23-21 set. 

 

The one match this week that wasn't close, featured the youngsters of KP XVI who went top of the Division, beating Regents Sports 10-0, Ethan Hu taking POTM honours. Finally, in what one of the players described as "never seeing a closer match", KP XIV drew 5-5 with Syston V, with unusually every game going to at least 4 sets. Toren Storer with a maximum put in another strong performance as POTM.

 

3rd Oct

Mondays opening match was a close affair with Desford  IV having a fine win against an experienced KP XIV team, securing their first win of the season and ending KP's 100% record. Tejas Khatau, making a  league comeback, took all three as POTM and led the team to victory along with a fine performance from Gemma Hargrave. 

 

On Tuesday KP XVI dropped their first points with a hard fought draw at Syston. The home team fielded a particularly strong player with Ajay Ladd winning all three comfortably for POTM. At Kibworth Mead Academy on Wednesday, Leicester T&SC beat Fleckney IV  7-3, Faizali Dharamshi with a fine maximum for POTM and youngsters Lennon Devlin and Omar Morsey gaining a point for the home team.

 

Thursdays final matches featured unbeaten League leaders Regents Sports II who went down 7-3 at home to WW V, playing their first match of the season.  Everyone contributed for WW, despite a POTM performance from Regents, Will Clark. Meanwhile KP XV had a narrow 6-4 win over WW VI, with Dave Dewsbury securing a maximum and POTM for the home team. Finally, Fleckney III picked up a 2nd victory of the season winning 6-4 at Nomads, Jan Green picking up POTM honours. 

27th Sept

Mondays opening match saw Leicester T&SC rebound from their opening defeat with a comprehensive 9-1 win over KP XV with Faizali Dharamshi POTM. 7 matches went to at least 4 games so closer than the final score might suggest.

 

With Tuesdays game between Syston V and WW V postponed, in the remaining game that evening, Regents Sports II continued their fine start, beating WW VI, 8-2 away. Will Clarke and Dave Rana maintaining their 100% start to the season with Will securing his second POTM award. Wednesday featured the Fleckney derby, with Fleckney III emerging 7-3 winners despite a maximum and POTM from Fleckney IV’s Omar Morsey.

 

The final two matches this week were both at Knighton Park, with the two home teams retaining their 100% records. KP XIV beat Nomads II, 7-3 in a tightly fought match with Mike Smith POTM and the youngsters of KP beat Desford IV, 7-3, with Ethan Hu taking POTM honours on his senior league debut.
