Division One Secretary Reports - Martin Bolton

19th April

We’ve reached the end of the season and Knighton Park I have retained their title with another very consistent team effort, lead from the front by individual averages winner Chris Rogers (only one loss), well backed up by James Berry on 80.85% and supported by Tony Smith and Richard Hayes. KP I had back to back losses in January to KPII and Unicorn but finished with eight consecutive wins, finishing with a 7-3 win over Loughborough Unicorn, Chris had a close four set win over Abishek Sudhakar while James in turn had a narrow four set loss to Abishek.

Knighton Park II have finished as runners up, after their win over KP I in January I expected them to finish top, however number one player Mo Salameh moved away and only played the first two matches of the second half and he proved to be somewhat irreplaceable. Jakub Kurowski had a tremendous season finishing second in the averages on 90.91%, losing to
only three players all season (Chris twice and once each to Garry Knights and Adam Pettitt).

KP II were probably still likely to top the division had Mo been available for the two matches after Easter, but he wasn’t and both ended in defeat. Losing to Loughborough 4-6 despite a max for Jakub and then after the title had gone losing with only two players 2-8 to Electricity.

Loughborough Unicorn just missed out on second place after another fine season, so many quality players to choose from, never clearer shown when they took six players to Knighton Park on the last Tuesday of the season to come away with two wins against Park II and Park III. Abishek Sudhakar, Robin Pearce and Garry Knights all winning two against KP II and Jared
Patel with a max, two for Abraham Conteh and one for Alex Holland saw off KP III.

Unicorn are fourth, they only lost once in the second half (to Loughborough) and could have been higher with three players in Max Flint, Adam Pettitt and Dan Broner all above 80% but dropped too many points when they weren’t available.

Leicester Electricity finished in fifth place after a good season, they finished with two wins and a draw. Electricity used six players with five of those finishing above 60%. Mat Hobday and Gareth Edmunds both above 80%.

Knighton Park III make up the top six twenty points ahead of seventh. They had a squad of five with Pawel Szumlanski having a very good season finishing on 71% with both Karen Smith and Jack Mooney finishing above 60%.

Winstanley are in seventh and number one Kai Bhakta had a fine season finishing on 73.81% ably backed by the other three members of the squad.

Knighton Park V led by James Lancaster with an average of 55% struggled for players towards the end of the season but stayed well clear of the bottom four.

Syston I used just the nine players and were never in danger of being dragged into a relegation fight with Malcolm Truman finishing on 54%.

Knighton Park IV finished seven points above the drop with the regular four players all contributing, Chris Hatton the highest with 35%.

Desford Village finished one off the bottom and might finally escape to division two (for a season at least). Desford suffered some season ending injuries early on and had to use a few new players but found a star in Danny Ricks who finished on 62%, with mainstays Kevin Parker and Russ Pettitt never giving up.

Syston Casuals II have finished at the bottom but did finish with a draw against Electricity. Chandresh Sodha had a very good season with 42%.

The individual averages(two thirds of matches) has been won by Chris Rogers finishing top again with 98.21%, followed by Jakub Kurowski 90.91% with Adam Pettitt in third with 82.22%.
